Success? Oh yes. Success.

This is a follow-up post about my recent Brilliant speech.

I received my first feedback evaluation from one of my professors. I received a 19/20. Areas of improvement were: I had random rapid bursts of speed in my delivery (which was a given because I seem to talk fast when I'm nervous - or frantic for that matter). And she said that I need to stand with my weight distributed evenly on both feet. Awesome. It won't take much to work on these two things. Woo! She wrote a lot of great comments on my evaluation as well. This is what she said, "loved loved loved your energy and thought put into this assignment. Exceptional outline. Mentioned you hope to make us smile. You made us smile, made us laugh and left us feeling good for the rest of the day. Loved 'the world of good.' Take me with you!" Wow. I've never gotten so many compliments from a professor like this before. I've gotten a "great job, Lauren" or "very nice." But the specificity of her comments made me feel really good and confident for the following speeches I have to conduct.

Right now, I am kind of relating this experience to "The Laws of Attraction." I don't know if you have seen this or not, but the laws were featured on Oprah. They're basically saying that you get what you give and put out there etc. I gave a decent speech, I exerted positive energy, and now I'm getting that energy reciprocated. I love it.

I've said this before in one of my earlier posts, but I really am excited about the remainder of the semester. It's great for me to have such success in the beginning of it because now I am confident and know that I really can succeed. This is exactly what I needed. I was still glum, although hopeful, about transferring to yet another community college, the fact that my graduation date was pushed back is certainly not a happy story, but this has been one of the best moves yet. I know that I am more driven in school than I have ever been. And I say this every semester I start, but this time, I know I really am. The intimacy with my classmates and professors, knowing everyone's names, and being able to connect with people on a more personable level has made this school the best college experience I have yet to have. Wow. I made an impression on people... look what they have given me.

  1. Lauren,

I am so happy that the success you feel is from your own brilliance! You are shining all the way from TEMPE...I need sunglasses. Success glows! Great job.

    love ya, Mom
