So... Parent's Weekend. I know you're all jealous that you weren't part of it because it's so fun. I love having my parents up here, and of course, Grammy and Pop Pop as well. I'm going to start off by saying that my weekend started early. "Well, what do you mean, Lauren?" Oh. I'll totally tell you.
On Thursday late afternoon/early evening around 3:00, I called my mom and told her that I was about to hang out with a couple of cool cats. Some awesome senior citizen friends of mine. She quickly realized that I was talking about Grammy and Pop Pop. Those crazy folks came to town early to visit John and Linda. So, I called Grammy and soon after, I was heading over to John and Linda's house to go hang out them. I think I arrived around 3:30ish. I didn't leave until 11:00 that night. They were holding me down in chains, they just wouldn't let me go! Nah, just kidding. I willingly stayed there and had a great time. Linda was gracious enough to keep me for dinner. We had some fabulous burritos. It was seriously SO much fun. We just kept talking and talking and joking around. Pop Pop and I did the "Elaine dance" together (c'mon all you Seinfeld fans - get with the program). Actually, Pop Pop and I did the "Elaine" all weekend. We're really cool like that. So anyway, it was a lovely time and I want to thank John and Linda for letting me hang out with them.
Ok, so Friday came around and the parentals joined. Love! Oh, first. Let me announce that I passed my drug test (of course) and finally got a job! I'll be working at a hotel called the Mondrian in Scottsdale. I'm the Agua Spa receptionist. And I get all the perks of being employed there. Free treatments, guest experience, discounted hotel rates, the works. I don't want to throw it in your face and brag about it, but umm... it's fantastic and you're jealous! :-) Ok, so anyway, parentals came and Grammy and Pop Pop and I met up with them at the hotel after lunch at Red Robin. Oh, and Chester came, too. But that's a given.
So we hung out for a little and then we went to a Mexican food place for dinner called Macayo's. We met up with Alyssa's boyfriend's family there. They were really sweet and I enjoyed meeting them. And not to mention the fabulous food and margaritas!
On Saturday, we woke up early and had some breakfast and coffee/tea at the hotel and then walked around Old Town, Scottsdale. The original "Wild West" if I may. It was a nice walk and the shops there are really authentic and cute. I also took everyone to the Mondrian so they could see where I worked and what the hotel was like. It's super chic and very, very white. You'll know what I mean if you check out the website. So, after that, we drove to my school and I gave them a small tour of the campus. Everyone liked it and thought it was pretty, which was cool. And then we did some massive grocery shopping at Costco. Oh man, my pantry and fridge are stocked now. Yummy! Mom, Grammy and I went to Target and Famous Footwear after that for some shopping and then we all went back to the hotel and relaxed until the football game.
At this point, ASU's football team isn't exactly worthy of talking about, so I'll keep it brief. We lost, but I got really sick right before the game so Grammy, Mom and I left at half time to get some meds and go back to the hotel. It was nice actually. We didn't really miss anything in the game... that's how pitiful it was.
On Sunday, we went for our coffee/tea/small breakfast and later went to ASU to meet up with Kappa Delta and the Parent's Weekend brunch. The food was pretty good and the atmosphere was nice. Asia met up with the family and hung around as well. After brunch, we said our goodbyes and Mom, Dad, Grammy and Pop Pop went back to the hotel to pack up and peace out to go home.
It was a great weekend. I wish Parent's Weekend was like once a month so I can have them come out more often. Seriously. I just love my fam that much!
I hope everyone else had a good weekend... I mean... it's obvious that it wasn't as good as mine... JUST KIDDING!
Thank you Mom, Dad, Grammy, Pop Pop and Chester for coming out. It was a blast! And thank you John and Linda for having me!
If you all wanna see where I'm employed, go to the website and look at the pictures. It's awesome! And just as a reminder, I work in Agua Spa! ♥
