First of all, the Hallmark holiday is added pressure to do something sweet and kind and clever and romantic. But here's the deal, k?
I think that if you're in a relationship, you shouldn't count on Valentine's Day to do something nice for your significant other. I think you should want to do nice things for your significant other whenever you feel like it, just because it makes them happy. If it brings an extra smile, if it adds a warm blanket in the cold (metaphorically speaking), then freakin' do it. Don't wait for the 14th of February to deliver chocolates and flowers. Send flowers just because... leave notes on their car just because... make breakfast or lunch or dinner just because... I mean, Jesus, do something extraordinary JUST BECAUSE. I mean... I'm a fan of hand-written notes. Love those. Add some color with markers and crayons and you're golden in my book.
I'll say this... I have only received flowers from a guy (other than Fred (Dad)) because he was APOLOGIZING. No, not good. I don't want flowers as an apology. Wait, what am I saying? Yes, yes I do. But I want the "just because" kind also. I want the little things, more importantly.
So basically... do nice things on days that don't land on February 14th. Thank you.
I want flowers goddamnit. I never have a boy in February. they should put the holiday in summer when i'm not celibate.
