Topless? What?

My Handy-Man Hero boyfriend came home with me for the remainder of Spring Break. Primarily to meet Dad (since he's already met Mom) and my grandparents, but also to see where I come from; my "OC" background as Drew would say.

First and foremost, I'll have you know that Drew did great with my family. I think my parents and grandparents are relieved that I have finally found a guy who is thoughtful and kind and treats me like a princess. ♥

Secondly, I'll explain the Handy-Man Hero title. The Saturn has been experiencing some tedious mechanical difficulties. The day before Katie and I left for Colorado, the car started acting up. The rear-right tire started squeaking and all of a sudden, I couldn't drive the car. It felt like the parking brake was holding the tire. Weird. I called Drew and ten minutes later, he showed up with his masculinity, took my tire off and examined my car. And low and behold, he was actually pleasant while in the process of figuring out my car. What a handy-man hero... He then followed me to the nearest auto service place and he stayed there to talk with the mechanic dude since I had no idea what was going on. I had to take the car back in the next morning, so Katie and I obviously needed to find a ride to the airport. Handy-Man hero boyfriend came to save the day. He picked me up at Pep Boys and took Katie and I to the airport. Later that day, Lyss was able to pick the car up later that day.

So I got back from Colorado on Monday and headed for California with Drew and Asia. The car was running good in my opinion, until we got to Palm Springs. Off of Haugen-Lehmann is where I had to pull off the road. The gears were no longer catching, so basically, it was as if I was pressing on the accelerator while in neutral. My Handy-Man Hero was quick to the pop the hood. He checked the transmission fluid and all that to see what was up. What a guy!! It was obviously the clutch that was failing. So after a few phone calls with AAA, my parents and Pep Boys and about 2 hours later, we finally got towed to the nearest auto service center, 17 miles away. Mom came to get us in Cathedral City and took us home. So yeah, that's why I call him my Handy-Man Hero. He's great!

So I took Drew to quite a few places back home. I took him through Coto, Mission Viejo, San Juan Capistrano and Laguna Beach. I showed him my childhood homes, too. I took him to Encinitas to walk around the meditation gardens (Swami's) and then to Carlsbad to Grammy and Pop Pop's beach house. We had a beach day at Camels in Laguna which was amazing. We practically had the beach to ourselves!

My parents hosted dinner with Grammy and Pop Pop for Drew as well. It was definitely a good time. Oh and by the way, I told Grammy and Pop Pop about my school decision, so thank you to my family for keeping it a secret. I was actually really surprised that they hadn't heard anything about it! Haha!

Drew and my parents got to know each other better, so I think it went really well. But you may be wondering why the title of this post is called "Topless? What?".

Here's a funny little story from Drew's visit. I went upstairs to get ready for dinner. Drew went downstairs to give Mom and Dad a bottle of wine that he bought for them (so thoughtful) as a thank you gift. I come downstairs a few minutes later to find my boyfriend bright red with he and my parents cracking up in hysterical laughter. First thought in my mind: "what the hell did they do to my boyfriend?". So of course I asked what was going on. Turns out, Mom was telling Drew about this great Spanish restaurant that had tapas and wine. Drew, being a Midwestern, American boy had NO IDEA what tapas are. Knowing this, he thought Mom was telling him about a TOPLESS bar. Hahahahahahaha! Mom and Dad were cracking up, not so much because Drew thought Mom was saying "topless" instead of "tapas," but because of the fact that Drew actually thought Mom would want to take him to a TOPLESS bar! So funny!

Although I know my man was embarrassed, I know it scored brownie points with my parents. Now they know they can joke with him. Haha!

Anyway, since my camera was dead, we were only able to take pics during our beach day at Camels. So, here they are. I hope to bring Drew home again sometime. It was so much fun!

Thank you to my family for having him!
